The first-ever Cricket World Cup started on June 20, 1973 in the form of Women's Cricket World Cup in England. The tournament was sponsored by late British businessman Sir Jack Hayward, who provided monetary support to the event in the form of £40,000. He was a businessman known for owning football club Wolverhampton Wanderers from 1990 to 2007.
